Sales teams do not need AI to produce more activity. But they do need it to support better selling.

sales effectiveness_you and AI_tom snyder_zeev wexler_3That distinction is at the center of Sales Effectiveness: YOU + AI, a live session with Funnel Clarity founder Tom Snyder and global AI expert Zeev Wexler on this Thursday, July 23 at 12 PM ET.

Tom and Zeev are a powerhouse combination because they bring together two disciplines sales organizations often treat separately. Tom brings more than 30 years of research into buyer behavior, sales methodology, and the practices that improve performance. Zeev specializes in building AI systems around real business workflows.

Their shared premise is simple: AI amplifies whatever you are already doing - for better or worse.

Automate weak qualification, and you pursue the wrong opportunities faster.

Add AI to unreliable CRM practices, and you create more questionable data. Use it to scale generic outreach, and you produce more noise.

But use AI well, and it can greatly improve execution.

ieps_sales_ai_podcastAhead of Thursday's live session, Tom and Zeev have been exploring these issues through a segment on the Sales Game Changers Podcast called AI and Sales Brief, which provides bite-sized episodes hosted by Fred Diamond of the Institute for Effective Professional Selling (IEPS).

Each roughly 10-minute episode takes one persistent B2B sales problem and examines how sales science and AI can work together to solve it.

Here are seven lessons from the series:

7 AI and Sales Brief Recaps

1. Episode 841: Diagnose the Ghost Town Funnel

Why do buyers disappear after what the seller considered a successful demonstration?

Tom argues that the problem often begins well before the demo. The seller may never have established what changed in the buyer’s organization, why the current approach was no longer sufficient, or who else would participate in the decision.

One enthusiastic contact does not constitute a buying group. Without evidence of a meaningful business issue and access to the right decision-makers, the seller may have gained an interesting new friend rather than a qualified opportunity.

AI can help identify relevant company changes, likely stakeholders, and questions the seller should ask before advancing the deal.

2. Episode 844: Stop Filling the Funnel With Wishes

Many sales leaders report that their funnels are full. Their revenue results suggest otherwise.

Tom describes many supposed leads as “wishes and dreams and hopes and aspirations.” A prospect agreeing to a meeting or demonstration is not enough to justify placing that company in the funnel.

Sellers need a hypothesis of need. They need evidence that the organization may be open to changing its current approach, not simply evidence that someone answered an email.

Zeev explains how AI can accelerate the research required to find those signals and create more relevant outreach. The goal is not to send 100 times more ineffective messages. It is to make each interaction more informed and useful.

3. Episode 848: Turn Sales Training Into Daily Behavior

Sales training has had the same problem for decades. Exposure to an idea does not produce mastery. Under pressure, sellers tend to return to familiar habits. Managers and enablement leaders rarely have enough time to reinforce every behavior during every opportunity.

AI can place proven practices inside the seller’s regular workflow. It can prompt stronger questions, identify missing information, challenge unsupported conclusions, and recommend appropriate next steps.

Instead of expecting sellers to remember a framework they encountered months earlier, the organization can make the right behavior easier to apply while the work is happening.

4. Episode 851: Make CRM Valuable to Sellers

Poor CRM data is frequently blamed on salespeople. Tom points to a more basic problem: Many CRM systems create work for sellers without helping them sell.

AI can capture insights from preparation sessions and customer conversations, organize the information around the company’s sales process, and recommend what should happen next.

It can also identify patterns across calls, buyer language, deal progression, and closed business. The CRM becomes a tool for better decisions, not a reporting repository.

5. Episode 853: Give Sales and Marketing Shared Evidence

The classic problem: sales believes marketing produces weak leads, while marketing believes sales ignores the opportunities it creates.

Tom reframes their shared objective around identifying companies with something meaningful to fix, accomplish, or avoid. Zeev explains how AI can analyze market signals and customer conversations to distinguish active buyers from companies experiencing relevant problems but not yet searching for a solution.

AI can also return insight from sales conversations to marketing. Internal opinions give way to evidence about what customers say, ask, and respond to.

6. Episode 857: Improve the Workflow Before Automating It

Before introducing automation, sales leaders need to define how their organization identifies prospects, qualifies opportunities, conducts discovery, advances decisions, closes business, and manages renewals.

If those processes are inconsistent, AI will make the inconsistency more visible and more scalable.

Once the workflow reflects proven practices, AI can reduce friction and improve execution. Sellers receive support at the moment they need it, while leaders gain a more consistent view of how opportunities are progressing.

7. Episode 858: Create Value Before Asking for the Sale

The most recent episode of AI and Sales Brief focuses on value-added resellers, but its lesson applies across complex B2B sales.

Buyers increasingly expect sellers to help them understand their options and make better decisions before purchasing anything. They want insight, not another product presentation.

AI can compress market, account, competitor, and customer research from days into minutes. That speed becomes valuable when it is combined with real expertise and a disciplined sales approach.

Across all seven episodes, Tom and Zeev show how sales organizations can improve prospecting, qualification, coaching, CRM management, and sales and marketing alignment. They do it without mistaking more activity for better performance.

Take the Conversation Beyond Ten Minutes

The mini episodes point to one conclusion: AI is most powerful when it helps sales teams execute proven behaviors with greater speed, consistency, and precision.

Tom and Zeev will take that idea live in Sales Effectiveness: YOU + AI this Thursday, at 12 PM ET.

This is not a general discussion about AI’s potential. It is a practical session on how sales leaders can combine sales science, human judgment, and AI workflows to improve pipeline quality, forecasting, discovery, and deal execution. Do not miss this powerful session.
